Fitting Rear Parking Sensors

I have another question regarding my recent purchase of a 2011 avensis T4. I have a rear view camera but would like to fit rear parking sensors as I find the camera difficult to work out distance and position. I am reasonably proficient in doing things and would like some advice from anyone who has fitted them.

Thanks in advance,

Gordon

See www.toyota-tech.eu this is Toyota's technical assistance site including accessory fitting guides, for your Avensis http://www.toyota-tech.eu/aimuploads/%7BC9387563-AA3A-B0E0-5B17-E02F571AAA3A%7D/Avensis%20TPA%20rear%20sedan%20PZ464-T3420-C0%20AIM%20001%20278-3%2006DE2914D.pdf

I bought the cheap ones from eBay and fitted them to a T27 saloon using the instructions on the toyota tech site. You need to remove the bumper to route the wires, and the power feed is connected behind the left side panel in the boot. The toyota tech site gives templates for siting the sensors but as my eBay ones were deeper/longer they would've hit the steel cross member behind the bumper so had to be fitted a little lower. They worked great except on an odd occasion if you had a laden car and were reversing down a slope onto the flat, where the sensors caught the road below as the level changed, since they were fitted a little too low. They came pre painted in a choice of a dozen or so colours, and I fitted them in a couple of hours.

Edit... I fitted the beeper in behind the boot panel too so it was a little quiet, but still audible.

Bit late to the party 😂 ... Does this guide also exist for 2017 Avensis touring? I'd love to have front parking sensors as well, if there's a guide for that also? Thanks

It was 10 years ago I did mine, I'm sure the offerings will have changed since then.

So this raises the question: is there any reason not to use sensors and/or the sensor module from a different Avensis generation (e.g. 2010 in my 2017 or 2017 in a 2010)? The correct module for my 2017 doesn't seem particularly available on eBay whereas earlier ones are.
