I was wondering if any one could help, my 2003 Celica knocks when im reversing and its driving me crazy! It knocks when im reversing in gear or i let it roll back wards. It seems to be at the exact same spot if i maintain my speed, if i slow down the gap between the knocking increases, when i speed up the knocking is quicker. So im no mechanic but its obviously something rotating but it feels like its down the centre maybe more to the rear. Any help much appreciated .

So the noise is coming from the rear of the car? Has that been confirmed by someone standing as you reverse by?

If this is the case it's likely to be brake related. To confirm this try 'feathering' the brakes as you reverse. Try both pedal and handbrake.

I suspect it will be excessive wear/corrosion on the pad pins which locate the pads on the caliper.
