Yes the panel was connected directly to the Battery.

As for getting into the boot via the back seats, unfortunately my lower boot tray is full so access would have been nigh on impossible.

As the car was left in a car park, the option of leaving the hatch open would have been a "no-no".

I will look into the option of a 12V Battery solution should I need to leave the car for any length of time again.

How long does it take a 12V Battery to self-discharge when disconnected? I wondering if it would be possible to disconnect the 12V Battery negative lead before leaving the car for a long time. On return use the jump-start so that you can open the boot hatch and then reconnected the 12V Battery.

Doesn't the tint block out most of the light for a solar pv? I'm sure I've read that on the Priuschat forum.

Try the panel with a suitable led or bulb and see if it glows. Then try it in the car behind the tinted windows. If it still glows then I'm wrong. If it doesn't, then there's your answer.
