Car Alarms....

Ok... since I got my car I've had nothing but probs with my car alarm. It's always been funny at some point or another. Doing my nut in !!

I have a Scorpion system installed at the moment.

I was browsing the net and found these guys... LINK

The fact that the prices of there alarms include installation at your home or work seems very appealing. Do you think they would rip the old alarm out first also ?

Can anyone recommend a good alarm from that site ? Money isn't an issue ( but I won't pay £800 for an alarm.. lol ) , so I want the best there. Also... one which will work with a Turbo timer, has central locking... blah blah... all the usual.

cheers,

Jim

if it doesnt say anything then it isnt CAT, try callin them, also to get discount from the insurance company it must be fitted by a pro, and you need to show them a certificate

Jim - Turbo timer and Intelli start invalidate the CAT1 ..

There should be NO WAY that the engine can be running without someone in the car ..

If your going to send some money then get a thatcham approved alarm! then you can get cheaper insurance

and we all want that :D

So are alot of insurance companys funny if you have an alarm installed, but not a CAT I ?

I wanted Turbo timer.. and remote start...... :(

Nice i think you might have to have it fitted by a thatchm approved fitter. but if you want all th fancy bits then i might be a good idea anyway (you can at lease shout at them if anything goes wrong)

hope this helps

Also it might be worth phoning the insurance company to see if it makes any difference at all.

Question about home brew remote start? say if I built a remote control which powers a relay, if I had the spare key(hidden) attached with a wire to the steering lock, would that work?

i thought remote start was illegal.

J

its illegal to start the car on a public highway with nobody in the car, in fact its illegal to leave a car running and then get out and leave it running on the side of the road!

you get a nice list from clifford telling you the dos and donts

and dont leave it in gear, that will sh*t anyone up who is stading in front of the car

you cant leave it in gear

you have to arm the system in such a way that its impossible
