New to this site, as ONLY just experiencing problems with my T180 Rav4, that I've owned since brand new October 2006!

Love my Rav4 and only look to change now, as 8 years old and done 111,000. Although 2nd engine as had gasket failed at 85k, BUT Toyota supplied & Fitted new engine Free of Charge despite being out of any Toyota warranty! (Understand it's a design fault and guess Toyota fix for free because it's a Lexus engine too!)

That's the ONLY problem I've had with my Rav4 till now, today 6th June 2014 the Radio Screen/Sat Nav has died! The radio is not dead, as run a Highway DAB adaptor through the stereo and this receives Planetrock, but no sound.

Am going to check the fuses myself, but see on here could be dead head unit, so could be trip to my first class auto electrician business friend, as he will fix competitively for me! (He did my towbar, as the local Toyota dealer takes their towbar installs to him and add £100 to the price! Also broke a back light in all that snow of 2010, got a new light off eBay, but a fiddly job to swap - so took it to my auto electrics friend who charged me a £10 to fit it, that would have took me all day to do!)

Still love my Rav4 and am tainted at changing, as all I want is better MPG than 38mpg+ and cheaper tyres - last time paid £168 per tyre (previously been paying £210 per tyre from the same tyre dealer). Tainted at changing because could get a bag of trouble used (can't afford new again).

Drove a brand new Merc B class recently and getting back into my 8 year old Rav4, my Rav4 didn't feel any the less quality against the brand new Merc! Didn't like the Merc, because I have a BIG bunch of keys, that are great always in my pocket with the keyless start Rav4. With the Merc my keys were knocking my right knee constantly! Also have driven un-registered Jag's and Range Rovers (onto ferries, export, Immingham Docks) and it was never a come down getting back into my Rav4!

Am a Toyota fan, because had a Toyota Starlet brand new (company car) in 1993 and this 1.0 12v engine did 100k with me in 3 years without fail! Then got a Toyota Corolla 1.6 GLi company car with only 86k on the clock and even with 100k on its clock it would still rev all the way around it's rev range! (The Peugoet 306, Vauxhall Astra's, VW Golf Gti after were no where near as reliable at the same miles!)

The wife did have a Yaris too, first one she got after a Fix It Again Tomorrow (maybe what FIAT means) Punto had problem after problem! However she rolled the first 03 Yaris after clipping the verge off a bend, so got a 54 Plate Yaris that only the other week she swerved again to avoid another vehicle, stuffed it through a hedge and again rolled it! So thinking Yaris are unlucky, she's bought a Mitsubishi Colt (that's already not as reliable!)

Both crashes she escaped without a scratch herself, so proves Yaris's are safe? Although this says you wouldn't be seen dead in one - if easily offended don't watch as the language is 18+
