Idle Air Control Valve? Or Fuses?

Hi all,

I bought my 2005 Yaris about 6 month ago and it has been a great drive although I now I have above average rpm when idling (1500-1800). It started last friday when I was driving home. I did rev a little hard in 1st gear when setting off at lights which I believe may have caused the problem.

I entered my flat's carpark and heard crackling from what appeared to be the Speakers, however I turned my CD off and it continued follow by loud bangs. I turned off the engine and started again, the crackling (which I also thought might be something to do with my air-con being on) and banging ceased (and for some reason the CD player spat my CD out), however I now have these high rpm when idling which makes the car quite noisy when stopping at lights or making maneovuers.

I used an OBD2 to check for faults which it found one P0505 (Idle Air Control Valve Malfunction), took it to a local garage today and they say that this part is hard to come by, none of their suppliers stock it and that it can only be obtained directly from Toyota, at a heavy price of about £350.00. They said I could try cleaning the part myself but have had no luck on finding information on this on the web especially for my model year.

I was wondering could the crackling I heard be from the fuse box and that it is a fuse that could be replaced to fix the problem? Or does anyone know any information on cleaning/obtaining this particular valve? I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks
