Hi guys im fairly new to this forum and ive had my celica gt for half a year now.

ive got a whistleing noise coming from the engine when the clutch is fully depressed and it does it in all the gears apart from reverse, as soon as i press the clutch it stops.

has anyone had this and know the cause of it?

i did the mod where you take the butterfly valve out of the air box and the whistle started about a week later, so i put the valve back in and its still making that annoying sound, could this of caused it?

any help appreciated.

The sound is due to wear on the clutch release bearing. No a major problem and the only solution is replacement. Not worth the cost to swap it unless you replace the entire clutch at the same time.

It can be driven like that without issues or until you can't bear it any longer.

Cheers gazza, I've been searching round the internet and a lot of people are saying it could be the IAC valve being dirty

If a Gen7 then it could also be the clutch release arm rattling against the slave cylinder piston. This is a common fault. Working somegrease between the two may help but the sound will return. It's difficult to see from above but removing the nearside undershield will allow you to see. Otherwise remove the air filter - grease up and see if that helps.
