had the aygo now for three months, enjoying driving it. Just disappointed that my key fob which can only be as old as the car obviously is not unlocking the car first time. It doesn't seem to have a problem when locking the car. I thought batteries were made to last a long time. Going to swap keys tomorrow and have a go with the spare just to see if there's any difference.

Since 1998,we've had new 11 new cars with remote central locking, and we've never had to replace a Battery in the key fob.

When you press the lock/unlock buttons, does the LED in the fob light up brightly?

If the spare fob has the same issue, it could be a problem with the central locking.

Or, more likely, interference. There's a chip shop I goto in Fridays and if I park anywhere near it then I can't lock/unlock the car with the remote and have to use the key! The weird thing is usually one will work, e.g. locking, but the opposite won't, e.g. unlocking, and it seems random which one I get!

They must be behind all these phishing e-mails that I keep getting...

seems to happen anywhere - at work or supermarket or at home. Forgot to swap the spare but haven't thought about looking for the red light.

Hmm. might be the button contacts have corroded or worn slightly?

The 2nd hand one I have needs a bit of a wiggle sometimes for it to activate...

It was a new car in March 2014. Think you need to have a word with the dealer.

yep. I'll take both keys out with me tomorrow and try them in different locations - home, work, different house (stopping at dad's tomorrow) and take it from there. Ok its not directly affecting me driving the car, but its annoying considering its new.

oh yes I can still stick the key in the lock lol.

Spare key isn't remote control, so I tested the key at the above locations, and found that the only problem I had was when I'm trying to open it at work in the afternoon. So there must be a bit of interference. Fortunately there is no great need to lock it at work as its the most secure car park you can get plus I lock my stuff in a locker at work.

There was a feature on local TV about weird happenings in the lake district a few years back. Cars would not lock or would unlock themselves, sounded all very sinister. They brought in some boffins to do tests, the answer was not spooky in the least...................It was a Cafe who had installed a new wireless electronic order pad system for their Waiters, turns out every time someone took an order for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, it would interrupt the signal for car drivers trying to lock their car doors

yep I agree, Kingo. I work in Shipley and I'm not too far from Shipley's Salt Mill where there are various shops and cafes so it would explain why there is no problem in the morning at half six and only a problem in the afternoon. Strange thing is it doesn't affect my colleagues? Including a fellow Yaris owner.
