hi there, I cant get the thing to start - please have a watch and let me know where to start with this. thanks in advance for any helpfull comments.

Seen this before, it was a duff Battery, one of the cells had failed

Just because it is a fairly new and charged Battery, does not mean it cannot be duff, I would be checking a number of things

Battery-does it have a dead cell?

Check Battery leads for security / dirt, check earth wire to body, and any other earth straps. Check tightness of all earth points and clean terminals

Other possible causes

Starter inhibiter switch on the auto gearbox

Faulty ignition switch

I would reckon on an earthing issue / poor lead connections to be honest, earth problems bring up weird things like the gauges going haywire
