4 Year Service & Mot - Aygo

Just been quoted £295 for a 4 years service & mot on the wife's Aygo by Burrows - Sheffield. Is that the going rate or are there more competitive Toyota approved garages available? Seems a little step considering how small and basic the Aygo is!

That price sounds about right.

The 4 year service is a major one. I should have paid £279 for a 60K service on my Prius today, but as I pay for the service plan it cost nought.

BUT, I did have to pay nearly £40 for the brake fluid change as that is not covered in the service plan. Nor is the renewal of the pollen filters.

It cost me £71 for both of these.

Remember that the MOT is about £35 so the quoted price is probably spot on.

You could try logging on to Toyota GB site and get a quote from there. I reckon it will be the same.

Click on 'Download pdf' to compare what is covered on each level of service. By the look of it they've quoted you for a Full+ service and MOT. Given that spark plugs aren't due to be changed til 60,000 miles (so would not be needed at the 4 year service), I would be inclined to check whether the Full service would be more applicable (£179).

I also presume that the brake fluid change which is usually due every 2 years hasn't been included - this is normally a £39 extra.

So go back to Burrows and question whether the Full service, rather than the Full+ is more applcable, and whether or not the brake fluid change is included.

Just a note, from our experience the Fixed Price Service scheme that Toyota offers, and applies from the first service (whereas other manufacturer's similar schemes tend to apply from when the car is three years old), is quite competitively priced. We also own a Hyundai i20 and previously a Mazda 2, in addition to the Auris, and we have found that the main dealer servicing for both of these is more expensive than servicing the Auris at a Toyota dealer. Service costs for the Mazda for the equivalent Intermediate and Full services were £199 and £299 respectively (Aygo £99 and £179, Auris £135 and £205).

I agree, ask another local (I imagine that in Herts. there will be one not too far away) Toyota dealer what they would charge & either use that to haggle or to go with.

At current prices Toyota Fixed Price Servicing 2 Intermediate services & a Full comes to £377 so no real saving for having a service plan (indeed they will have your money for 3 years).
