Lack Of Power

Hi

Have just joined to gain experience from the team.

I have a IQ1 2010 which is a gem.

Had her over a year now.

In the last few days she has developed a power problem.

When you change gear it has no power at all and seems to be in the wrong gear.

Ant ideas.

Thanks in advance

TE

Have you got the modified updated pipe work and manifold from EGR ? My daughters iq 10 plate had old type so booked it into local toyota dealer for the basic cheapest service and said it was lacking power when pulling away, when collected they had replaced the whole manifold, cat converter, with modified parts fitted to models after 2010 all free of charge under the 5 year toyota warranty, just got bill for £119.00 for service. I believe cost of modified parts and labour over £1200! Have a look to see if you have a small concertina (ribbed) pipe coming form exhaust manifold. If you have then it's modified if straight then old type. Have a look on here several posts with pictures. Hope this helps.

Grumpy Stumpy is correct - The EGR and associated parts should be changed if they are the "old type" with the modified ones to it rule out as a cause.

Could someone post pics of this so I know what to look for?

Open the hood and look down and to the right of the exhaustmanifold... there you can see a pipe... if you see a pipe then you have the old version.... the new pipe is harder to spot down there...

Hier the old (left) and new (right):

And the EGR-valve-thingie:

I will have to have a look when I take delivery. If its the old one is it a case of going into a Toyota dealer and saying its hesitating at junctions etc and they will change it? Or is it a bit of a fight to get it done?

Take the above attached drawing of Peter with you to the dealer.

You have a point if you do.

I did the same with such a drawing and it worked for me.

Regards the other Peter from Holland

It was only the 1.0 3 cylider engines that were a problem, seeing as you have ordered a 1.3, no problem.
