Excessive Oil Consumption Toyota 1.4 D4D Engines

I'm facing a problem with my Auris 1.4 D4D MMT, model 2010, the engine is burning around 1 l of oil at every 4000 km. Dealer say consumption of over 1l/1000 km is considered is acknowledged as excessive oil consumption by Toyota. Hard to believe since my Corolla 2006, 1.4 D4D MMT hardly consumes 1 l/15,000 km. Did anybody experience similar situation?

Not sure whether the definition of excessive oil consumption varies between countries/climates (we don't know which country you're in), but as far as I'm aware the figure for the UK is 0.5 litres/621 miles (1000km).

Thats about a 1L every 2.5k, its within the specs but I would keep an eye on it

I'm in Romania and looks like the figure is double than in UK. Imagine, if my engine would consume 0.95l/1000 km (still within acceptable limit), for the 15,000 km service interval I need to purchase and use approx. 18 l of engine oil. Let's be serious, this is a small car not a truck.

The link shows a presentation on how to deal with the 1.4 D4D engines when show signs of an increased oil consumption (most probably you are aware). Toyota issued also a TSB in this regard.

Actually the reason I posted on this forum is to find out if 1.4 D4D turbocharged Auris owners have made a practice of topping up the engine oil for several times within the 15,000 km service interval. For me was surprising, as I said above, my Corolla 2006 with the same spec but Euro4 engine does not need any topping up even if slightly goes over 15,000 km.

I don't know how to react, the oil consumption increased from 1l/10,000km when new to 1l/4,000km now when the car has run for 40,000 km.Is this a sign of an accelerated piston rings wear? Toyota service did all the checks as mentioned into the YT presentation and even replaced the turbocharger (as a matter of fact the oil consumption increased right after the TC change), but didn't go ahead with the replacement of the short block.
