Hi guys, I was always using Bridgestone Turanza ER 300, but I was thinking instead of getting the same one again, did my research and came across Toyo Nanoenergy 2 . Doe any one have any experience with these tires please?

No, but having looked it up it appears the Toyo NanoEnergy 3 is the latest version and is rated B for fuel economy and C for wet grip. Going off memory, that's about the same as the ER300 Ecopia LRR tyres I've used of late.

I understand the Bridgestone ER300's are no longer made and the latest Bridgestone LRR tyre is their Ecopia EP150 which is rated B/B and on Blackcircles dot com is showing as the same price as the Toyo. Assuming you're after the 15 inch tyres.

I personally never had a problem with Bridgestones other than they were useless in deeper snow, though being a summer tyre I'll let it off.

I've been looking at these tyres too. In the 16 inch they're rated A for roll - but £20 less than the competition (Blueresponse etc.)

It's hard to find out much about them. So far I've learned that they're Japanese, and I do like Japanese things.

Unfortunately I had to make a decision to put Michelin Energy Saver on my 08 Prius due to I had illegal tires at the front and didn't want to risk to be stopped by Police. Should have sort all this earlier. So I have four used Michelins, hopefully they will perform well, and after those I will buy Toyo Nanoenergy 2 :)

Kumho Ecowing ES01 KH27's may be worth looking at - generally for 15 inch they rated at B's for fuel use and roadholding

Imho I will go for Toyo Nanoenergy 2 next time as they score A for fuel consumption.

A rated? Can't sniff at that. Might have to have a look next time. Where you getting them from as Blackcircles don't offer them. I don't use BC but their website is a good source of reference.

Autobild gives the Nanoenergy a very poor rating.

Was it poor across the board or just certain aspects? I'm keen on good roll and wear.

Could you point me to the document?

Thanks.

www.rezulteo-tyres.co.uk has Autobild testing them issue 23 2013

The actual magazine is paywalled.

Dry braking 1/10

wet braking 6/10

wet grip 2.1/10

aquaplaning 3.6/10

dry handling 7.3/10

irregularity absorption 8.8/10

road noise 6.6/10

These came last out of 7 tyres they tested and not recommended.

Oh dear - that's not good!

Thanks for the heads-up!

Resurrecting an old thread but my front tyres are getting low and it's time to change them next week me thinks.

I'm after LRR tyres and historically gone for Bridgestone and liked the look of their new EP150 rated B/B and only £61.50 each for the 15 inchers.

Was considering the Michelin but they have about 7 different versions of their Energy Saver rated from B/A to E/E. Too much confusion in the same name and chances of garage ordering the wrong ones so will discount those.

Any other LRR tyres out there to consider?

I saw Toyo Tyres on a 2014 Prius at the dealers a couple of weeks ago. I had never heard of them before, in fact the trainee salesman called them Toyota tyres.

I am wondering what tyres our new Prius will have when I pick it up next week.

This web site rates Toyo Nanoenergy tyres quite highly.

Any other LRR tyres out there to consider?

I had 2 Dunlop Sport BluResponse (Eco B Wet A 68 dB ) 195/65R15 91 H fitted to my Prius just over 9½k miles ago - £66.21 each at my Toyota dealer. They put the new ones on the rear and the original Bridgestones got moved to the front.

These were replaced by two more Dunlops a couple of weeks ago, and again new tyres on rear. After 9½ k the first two tyres had only lost about 1mm of tread, but obviously it's difficult to gauge overall wear based on 2 rear tyres.

I've been very pleased with their performance (especially on some very waterlogged roads recently) and they do seem to make slightly less noise. They had some good reviews too, if you Google "Dunlop Sport BluResponse".

Although bought from a Toyota dealer my gen 3 Prius had very cheap (but handsome!) new chinese tyres all round. These were quickly sold on the bay.

I have now put a full set of Dunlop Sport Maxx RT on (A wet grip, C rolling resistance, 67db noise) and the car is transformed.

Wet roads feel dry. MPG has improved and I can now actually sneak up on pedestrians at over 30 mph due to the silence outside.

You could try Costco for some Bridgestone EP001S (a/a/69) if you have one nearby.

They don't have them on show but ask the tyre guy to look them up on the computer.

They are £68 at Costco here but they could only get 2 and I needed 4.

In the end I went for 4 off Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance (b/a/69).

Just under £60 each supplied and fitted using BlackCircles.

Running them in at the moment but mpgs still in the 60s.

You are right about the Michelin energy savers. The new saver+ range don't seem to have as good a spec as the old energy savers and while you can still get the old energy savers (made to Mercedes specs), you have to specify them precisely and hope the right ones turn up.

edit: corrected typo.

Is it EPS001 or EP001S or are they one and the same?

Good to see a A/A rated tyre and at a good price. Will have to enquire.

UPDATE: They're EP001S's and I've ordered the only 2 available. Must be proving popular. Get 'em fitted later in the week.

2ND UPDATE: They've now rung to say they can't get them. Is this an old tyre that's been phased out or just a popular one? Proving difficult to get hold of.

Picked up my new Prius T Spirit today. It is fitted with Toyo tyres.I think I would have preferred Michelins. I drove the car round town and the ride was very smooth. I hope they are OK in the wet!!.

Sorry. It's a typo. Should have been EP001S.

I double checked with the costco tyre guy and the ones on their computer are the LRR tyres rated a/a/69.

At the price they are charging, I would say they are popular and hard to get hold of.

I wanted 4 fairly quickly but there was no way costco could do it.
