Hi All, just joined this club and wondered if anyone could advise. I picked up my new Aygo 'Move with Style' in March and love it. I ordered one in white with a black roof and leather seats and it came with years free insurance which is even better. I really want to get some black wheels for it now as I think it will really make a difference but wasn't sure if this would invalidate the 5 year warranty it has? My options are to spray the current ones black (which is cheaper) or buy some new ones but not sure how either would effect the warranty. Has anyone else done anything similar to theirs? It might be a question I put the dealer who sold it to me but just wondered. It doesn't say anything about mods in the user guide or warranty booklet for the car. Cheers all. Dan

Changing the colour of the wheels will invalidate the warranty on those items.

As regards changing the wheels,

1) if you go for Toyota accessory wheels they will have at least a 12 month Toyota warranty.

2) if you go for third party wheels, any warranty will be with the retailer/manufacturer of those wheels, not Toyota.

interesting .... I was considering getting the alloys on my Aygo black refurbished as the previous owner obviously couldn't park ... or she had a serious grudge against kerbs!

I think I will buy some new ones then, then at least I have the originals to put back on if needs be. cheers for the advice. my next question then…will 195/45r15s fit toyota aygo? I don't want to use spacers as it affects the ride to much, and have read on other forums they will fit.

Before you buy any, check with your insurance company that they will accept the modifications - new wheels and different size. Some will accept the changes, some will charge an extra premium, and some may not accept any change from the standard specification (Toyota Insurance are supposedly quite strict on this last point).

No advice about the wheels, but you made a great choice there on the car. I've got a Move with Style too, its been a great little car. Did you get the 0% interest three years servicing too?

I did indeed. I looked around everywhere and lots of other different small cars and scrutinized all deals available until the wife was ready to divorce me! and I kept finding myself coming back to the Aygo, so ordered one. Admittedly I got sucked into choosing some extras for mine, i really fancied one with a black roof so chose the Nero Blanco paint and there was a red one in the show room with red and black leather, so I couldn't resist getting the leather seats in black and grey, which I must admit look amazing! I am very pleased and love it. 0% and free insurance made it all worth it for me.

Coming back to the alloy thing, I spoke to the salesman who sold me mine and he said an alloy respray will not effect the cars warranty but will effect the wheels if there were a problem with them in the future. So I am getting them resprayed I think. He also said when my deal comes to an end it may effect the residual value possibly, but that is only if I want to give back to finance company, which I don't so all good.

Thanks for the advice!

Which is effectively what I said.

Another topic has been raised recently in the Avensis club re warranty cover on alloy wheels - post 17 is worth noting: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/160441-alloys-are-they-covered-by-the-5-year-warranty/page-2
