Strange Sound From Front Left, 1992 Corolla 1.6xl

Hi there everyone.

I have a 1992 Corolla 1.6XL sedan, made in New Zealand (one of the last)

Just recently, about 1 week ago my car started making a strange...if you willl....dok dok dok dok (thumping almost) sound from the front left.

When the car went to get a warrant the guys there searched high and low for a problem but nothing. So we took it the local service station were 4 mechinacs looked high and low, but couldn't find anything. In the end they removed a brake pad lip or something. It worked for about 10km and then it started again. You can feel it through the car as well as hear it.

I am stumped, the mechanics are stumped.

The mechanic said there was normal give in the CV joints, nothing that could cause such a noise.

I hope someone here has an idea as to what is makin it.
