Hi,

Need to replace the original rear roof aerial ( non gps) as all the rubber is dropping off the screw in part. (base ok)

Seems there are many 'cheapies' on eBay from as little as £4 though do wonder how good or bad they are.

Found this site selling a "genuine OEM' ones for £15.

They also list a good quality Stubby 17 which might be a better option, assume it will withstand a typical car wash machine without needing to be removed.

Interested to know what others have fitted and if the FM reception was as good as the original ...?

If you go for a stubby aerial mast, make sure it is flexible (ie rubber). We had to replace the aerial on our i20 for a shorter, mast due to it catching on the garage door. After an argument with a car park barrier (an over-zealous attendant closing the barrier too soon), the aluminium mast was hit, and broke the base of the aerial. If it had been rubber, doubt whether anything would have been damaged.

The stubby one on eBay looks like it is aluminium to me.

On my last Auris, where again we had an issue with the garage door and aerial mast, I found the rubber stubby aerial from the latest VW Polo fitted - about £15 from my local dealer.

Why not send Parts King a personal message to see what prices he can do the aerial masts for?

I also have had the misfortune to break off the aerial. The rubber around the base of the aerial itself disintegrated some time ago (leaving the square 'nut' part of the aerial exposed).

If possible I would like to replace the aerial with one slightly shorter as I also had the problem of the aerial contacting my garage door, as the existing aerial was flexible I used to weigh it down slightly to avoid contacting the garage door.

The replacement aerial must be flexible, not rigid. help please.
