Rav 4 Electrical Problem

Hi,

I have a 1994 RAV 4 which has developed an electrical fault.

When I turn the key to the accessories switch before I turn to start position, the 20 amp fuse under the bonnet blows, and nothing happens when I turn to start position. All of the dash lights remain on and the cooling fan works.

I have disconnected the wires to the distributor, to try to eliminate things but still happens.

I have cleaned the Battery connection and tried a new earth strap, still the same.

Any help, suggestions welcomed.
