2012 Verso Cut Out Today...linked To Power Steering?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Does anyone have any idea what might have caused it?

Will it be covered by the warranty??

I was finishing off my drive home today when it felt like the power steering on my Verso suddenly failed. It picked up again immediately afterwards but it was a bit weird. A couple of minutes later it did it again, this time accompanied by a flicker of the dashboard lights.

I stopped at a junction and tried turning the wheel left and right. Everytime I did this the dashboard lights flickered and the power steering was cutting out. I pulled away from the junction and the car cut out completely. A bit scary when pulling across traffic with my daughters in the back!!

So, does anyone know what might have caused this? The cutting out certainly seems to be linked to the power steering and seems to be electrical.

I will take it into a dealership tomorrow as I don't think it's safe to drive

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

Hello Michael - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

The Verso does have electric power steering, so it is conceivable that whatever the fault is, it could have an effect on other electrical systems.

Is the Toyota new car warranty still in force, or is it covered by a Toyota approved used warranty or other warranty?

Thanks for the reply...and for the friendly welcome!

We bought the car from a dealership 12 months ago but it should still have 3 years of the 5 year warranty left, shouldn't it?

OK - that's provided a bit more detail.

Sometimes cars bought at Toyota dealerships come with the Approved Used warranty in place of the remainder of the new car warranty, or, if you had bought it outside of the Toyota dealer network, a third party warranty. For example, if it had been bought from a Vauxhall dealer, it may have come with their Network Q warranty.

So given the additional info, I presume it will have the remainder of the Toyota 5 year/100,000 mile new car warranty, provided the servicing requirements have been met.

I would think the power steering issue will be covered by the Toyota warranty.

All sorted under the warranty. Something to do with a cable not being earthed...or something.

Anyway, it appears to be good as new again :doctor:
