Low On Power

Hi guys

I'm new to the forum, I joined because I purchased a Rav4 VX diesel.

Now this thing looks great, it has the upgrade pack on a 53 plate, 123k miles, but I have a problem.....

Firstly it sounds like a diesel, you know when you first start it up, it's a diesel ok, but it gets better as it warms up, but the bigger problem is, it revs ok in 1st and 2nd gear, I do get this strange sucking sound after 3100 revs, then in 3rd,4th or 5th, it won't rev above 3100 revs, it just dies or holds back, top speed 80 mph flat to the floor, I also think its getting worse week by week...

I did contact the garage I bought it from, they said they will have a look at it while I'm away and don't need the car, but a little insight or words of wisdom from you guys would be greatly received.
