Hi,

I had my 2010 Aygo in for its service today, also the 2 yearly brake fluid change was also done. When I went back to get the car all was fine except they said the bleed nipple has corroded itself stuck, so they need to drill it out to replace.

My question is, how were they able to change the fluid with the nipple corroded in? I'm not that car mechanically minded so I hope someone on here can help.

Also they said it would cost £96 to complete this job, I questioned it under the warranty, but they said it was wear and tear, I'm not convinced on a 4 year old car. I would appreciate on other peoples opinions.

Cheers.

you will probably find that the garage has bled 3/4's of the system and got stuck at the one nipple that wouldn't undo.

when undoing a bleed nipple i would say never use a socket or spanner that has a star shape in the end as they only grip on the corners of the nipple and can slip if they are tiht or seized, always use a socket or a spanner that has a hexagon shape in it as it will use the flats of the nipple to undo ,i would try it yourself you have nothing to lose ,if the nipple doesnt move and it snaps you wont lose any fluid as it hasn't turned and if it does turn undo it a little then close the nipple back up ,then the bledding can be carried out at the garage.
