1997 Carina E Leaking Oil From Distributor Even With A New 'o'

Hi Folks,

I hope someone out there can advise me please?

I have just purchased from Toyota UK a replacement distributor 'o' ring (it seals the static body shaft of the distributor at it's interface with the camshaft) through the cylinder head.

Toyota informed me that the original part number 'o' ring is as follows, 90069-08013

I purchased two of these, one as a spare :bangin: .

Anyway when they arrived thereceipt told me the original item is no longer available and the part supplied supersedes the original and it's part no. is number is 90099-14127.

The reason for my post is that I have just fitted one of the new o rings and it still leaks.

On close examination it's clear it isn't the same profile as the original.

The original had straight vertical inner and outer faces with a radiused top and bottom. The replacement supplied is just an 'o' ring.

Can anyone advise if they have found a source for the correct sealing ring and or another option to seal the interface?

Is there a breather that I need to unblock which maybe causing excess pressure and from that the leak?

Thanks

Hope you can help?

Colin
