Auris Hsd 2011 Wheel Size

Hi,

We are looking to get a used Auris HSD but noticed that the car comes with 17 inch low profile tyres. The car is advertised as being a T4, 89g CO2 etc. but being a Prius Gen3 owner myself, these specs seem a bit misleading. What is even more strange is that if I go to mytyres.co.uk and enter its registration number, it comes up with 17 inch wheels so something is not quite right.

Therefore, I have a few questions for the experts here:

1. Was there a T4 variant with 17 inch wheels and can we retro-fit 15 inch wheels - I prefer reduced road noise and extra mpg

2. If there had been such a variant, could it do 89g CO2 ?

3. An unrelated question - does the Auris HSD come with a spare wheel? I know the prius does and Yaris HSD does not.

Your feedback would be much appreciated.

According to the January 2012 brochure, the T4 was available with either 15 inch or 17 inch wheels, and both versions came with a temporary spare wheel. The CO2 figure of 89g/km was for the model fitted with 15 inch wheels - the figure for the model with 17 inch wheels was 93g/km.

As regards changing the wheels for the smaller size, check with your insurance company first to see whether they will accept the change to the standard spec for that car. One member who wanted to do the same was refused by Toyota Insurance - see post 27 of the following topic: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/145281-toyota-motor-insurance/page-3

Bear in mind also that with the first generation Auris Hybrid the positioning of the Battery has reduced the boot space to 215 litres, as opposed to 354 litres for the petrol/diesel versions.
