Key And Fob

:help2: Hi there folks, was just wondering if anyone can help? Recently bought my wonderful second hand 2006 Rav4 (Hector) which i must say i absolutely love driving. (previous Toyota models were an Avensis and Versos). Anyway back to the point...the problem is that i only have the one key/fob and i am worried that i may lose this. I have asked for a quote at my local Toyota dealer who has quoted over £300 for a new one. Does anyone know where i could get one cheaper or access a fob to get re-programmed. Cheers :D

Careful you don't buy a key case i.e. a replacement outer case with no internals! Second hand keys come up on eBay quite often - you can transfer the innards into a new case and get the blank key cut. Otherwise an aftermarket new key is around £40. On this particular key - the immobiliser capsule is separate and needs to be cut out of the old case. You can get the key programmed professionally for around £35 by an auto locksmith or it's possible to do it yourself.
