Starting Avensis 2010

Hi Guys,

I have recently bought a Toyota Avensis 2012 (2L Petrol).

The problem I have got is that when i get in the car and try to start it just makes a click sound for the first time and then u turn off and try again and it starts.Once yit has started once u can turn it off and start as many times as you want.

If you get out of the car and lock the car,unlock it and try again and will have the same issue.it will jut do a click and wont start.

Someone told me to push the breaks while starting.that didnt worked for me.

My car is not a push button and is the key start.

Please let me know if i am doing something wrong while starting it.

Doesn't sound right to me. Take it back to the dealer and show them the problem. Looking on the bright side at least you can replicate the problem every time, rather than it only doing it occasionally (and not doing it while the dealer has it). Your profile says other/non UK so I don't know if it's any help but over here they have a 5 year warranty.

Edit...I have a 1.8 petrol 2012 year and it's never done this.

Your profile and the topic title give the vehicle's year as 2010, but your post says 2012?

If you are in the UK, and the car is a 2010 model supplied by Toyota GB, it will have the five year/100,000 mile warranty if it was first registered on or after 1st June 2010.

Manual or auto transmission?

on my partners 2010 tourer you have to depress the clutch to start it or nothing happens.dont know if this helps

Thanks for the replies.

The Car is 2012 and is automatic.Its not a push button electric start and uses a key.

I tried pushing the break and it didnt made any effect.

The only thing i dont understand is why it starts on the second attempt.

Any more suggestions.
