Avensis Verso 2.0 D4D T04221-27012 Pipe Kit

I have a 2005 Avensis Verso 2.0 D4D and had poor running for some time (I might add this is my second one, I've got 2002 one with the same problem!)

First code that came up (on both cars) was P1251, but couldnt find out what this really was it was intermittant and NEVER reared its hed when it went into the garage, however, couple of weeks ago, the car started in limp mode, this time it showed P0627 - I took it to the main dealer to see if I could get a difinitive answer. They did a diagnostic and said the P1251 was not recorded but the P0627 was, they advised I needed a Pipe Kit T04221-27012, and also that Toyota had issued a bulletin to fit these modified parts. I nearly fainted when the estimate came in at £472.50!!

So the question is this .... is this 'pipe kit' they want me to buy - just the two suction control valves - or - does it have something else with it? I have seen the suction valves on internet sites for much less money, but am I taking a risk buying them if I need something else as this 'pipe kit' suggests?

Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.

Have a look at this thread in the Rav4 forum. Seems you may be able to get a better price from a chap on the Avensis forum.
