Stalling At Junctions

My 2003 Avensis 2.0 T-Spirit keeps stalling. Tickover surges and too often the engine dies as I start off at islands and junctions. Toyota did a usual expensive diagnostic check but couldn't seem to find a cause. Other people suggest an idle air control sensor. Any thoughts and what's the likely cost to put right? Cheers

If it just randomly stalls and jerks sometime its a sensor. We had problem and it would ***** sometimes while driving and when stopping at round-abouts it would cut off or stopping. It was a fuel injector sensor, EML was on too.

Iac valve and / or egr valve are usually responsible for stalling on the approach to junctions, slowing down etc, not moving away from junctions, symptoms are revs dropping, not increasing.

I'd suggest confirming with the Toyota dealer you used that there definitely isn't any error codes on the ecu.

I have similar problems with my 2013Avensis tourer. I quite often stall on round abouts and generally when changing
gear from 3 to 2. In fact it is always when I change gears. Not been to Toyota
dealer yet. Thinking about it, it is when brining the clutch up after changing
the gear the car stalls.

What about vacuum leaks or induction system leak. Spray the pipes and see if that makes any difference. I am not sure if the spray should be WD40 or just a water spray. So long as it does not cause any problems other than help find any leaks.

My friend Waqar has used a data-logger to gather live information whilst driving. The ECU may not see faults to generate faults.

Thank you for your quick replies. I will head back to the Toyota garage. It needs to be sorted. Cheers
