Wheel Nuts

Getting on well with My MR2 T-Bar model 1998 now, but, found a new and unexpected prob. when required to fit emergency tyre.

Because of new 17 inch alloys fitted, the wheel nuts do not fit the emergency wheel and a set of original nuts needed or spare is useless.

the emergency tyre is as follows:- T135/70D 16 I have to remove the spacer and with proper nuts it would do it's job.

One local dealer was un-helpful and I'm about to try one other but, anticipate blank stares. I woder if members know if any more modern models have lugs that might fit ?

Further problem 2nd dealer displays similar ineptitude to the 1st dealer. The nuts may be available at around £100---------- I'm starting to think I'm the one who's nuts.

it seems that wheel nuts are required to be sized to fit front and a 2nd size for rear. therefore 10 required. I wonder if anyone can confirm this before I part with the money only to find that what's ordered is no use.

wheel nuts are different front to rear, in that rears are longer to accommodate the staggered wheels ,

if you only want them for the standard skinny spare wheel, then either would do ,the thread and design is the same

fronts would look better anyway being as they are shorter ,either way you only need 5 unless you plan to run on 2 spares

alternately get an aftermarket 17" wheel as a spare ,then your nuts will fit

i should have 5 spare if you want some second hand ones

I only need them for the "skinny" spare wheel T135/70D 16 and if it will then fit front or rear, then 5 is all I need but. if fronts will not do the job safely fitted to the rear.etc...............

Not sure what you mean by "do the job safely ",the only difference in the nuts is the length,on the skinny wheel it doesn't matter about length ,as they do not have deep holes to go in

heres a picture of all variants of mr2 wheel nuts ,from rev 1 to mk 3 ,fronts and rears

as you can see the bit that bolts to the hub through the wheel,is the same depth ,so any will do
