First of all, US (and all LHD Corollas) have shifters angled towards the left side of the car, whereas RHD Corollas have them angled to the right side of the car. I've been told that most of the eBay short shifters are angled to the right anyway. The only difference is the angle, it will still fit, just puts the shifter far away from you if it's one of the few made for LHD.

The strut bar will fit, whether it's LHD or RHD.

So no worries.

blimey, never heard that before...

wonder if its because of the gate in the box ? my ae92 shifter is straight as a die when out of the car, but it does lean very slightly right because of the gate in the ae92 box and only whan its in Neutral whilst in place.....

be interesting to hear if others lean ? take a look on your way home tonight and post in the morning....

When I remove the boot on mine, it's bent towards the left side of the car. A friend of mine has replaced his with a Japanese short shifter, and it angles toward the other side, approximately placing 1st gear where my 3rd gear is.

convert your original shifter into a short throw shifter, keeping the stick in the correct place...

move the ball upward on the shaft by about 1" - 1.5" depending on how short you want the throw, its %$(ing hard to shift the ball unless you can get the lever to an engineering shop with a press, or you can cut the shaft and weld a new section in.

Measure the gap from the bottom of the shifter to the top of the trans tunnel in the car, that the MAX you can move the ball upwards before the shifter will hit the car floor....use that as a guide If you make the throw to short its horrible to drive... and moving the ball back down again is just as hard (its a full on interfearence fit. :censor: :censor: :censor:
