I've not used your particular sat nav but since you've had no replies I'll throw in a thought...

AFAIK postcodes can be 5 digits (like N1 1AA), 6 digits (N11 1AA), or 7 digits (NE11 AAA) - and if you include the space it could be up to 8 digits.

If it's similar to my Avensis sat-nav there's a "spacebar" button. Bear in mind that I've only used mine a few times so I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but... Maybe you need to enter the first bit (the N1, N11 or NE11), then hit the spacebar button so it knows you've moved onto the second bit (the AAA).

The spacebar is this like a "square bracket" button on it's bum, ie a small half-height vertical line joined at the bottom to a horizontal line, then joined to another half-height vertical line at the other end.

Jees that's not easy to explain clearly, especially when the square bracket sign [ (< that one) doesn't show well on screen. Hope you get what I mean, and that it doesn't come across condescending (like it sounds to me when i read it back). It's not meant to be, it's meant to be helpful :s

I was offered the sat nav when I bought my Icon.

£600 !!!!!! No way,I said.

Anyone who pays that kind of money for a sat nav needs certifying.

I'll stick with my TomTom with the voice of Brian Blessed, far more entertaining.

What version of software is your nav running? To check select " setup " " general " " system info " as my touch and go is running 2.8.5l and using your example I input S40 4UX which it allowed me to input fully than asked what house number I wanted.

I've had a play about with the Touch & Go in my 2012 Avensis. It's version 1.7.5l (I assume this version is older than yours due to the lower number and my car's registration year).

I tried entering the example you gave (S40 4UX). After entering S40, the only button available to press (ie not darkened out on the keypad) is the spacebar. After pressing the spacebar it will continue to allow me to enter 4UX. I can then start the navigation. This would suggest to me that an update probably won't help you.

Once you've entered S40 4 I assume it goes to the next screen, can you tap the S40 4 there to get it to go back, or will it allow you to continue entering numbers?
