Just a minor comment: I recently bought an avensis 1.8 estate (petrol) and found that the gear lever top silver plating was coming off, which stuck in my hand and was quite painful . I went to my local dealer (Motorline Toyota) to buy a new part and was told that the technicians had a special process for fixing just such a problem, and to book the vehicle into the workshop, after a day or so it would be perfect and a charge of £28.00 + vat, I could pick the vehicle up. Shame on you! for £5.45 (including p+p) I bought a brand new one from Exeter Toyota. The moral of this story - You can always trust a Toyota, but not always a Toyota Dealer.
