T180 Engine Issues

Please help .. I had been looking for a rav4 (sorry to say the R word on this forum) but came across a very tidy T180 full toyota ser history .... can i ask/enquire is there anything to look out for ... and do they have the same issue as I've been informed about diesel rav4 ' s ...

The Verso Apr 2005 - Nov 2008 has the 2AD diesel engine and the same potential issues as the Rav of the same era.

Am I right in thinking that toyota put a warranty on these engines till 110k ..... what are the symptoms .. I'm guessing I can only get new engine if the other one plays up .... is it just a few diesel engines that have played up .. or a lot of them
