Headgasket Probs !

hi all first post to the forum, i own a 2007 avensis 2.2 d4d tr disel ,i dont know engine model.......

symptoms,,, drinking water,sometimes nearly 2ltrs, temp gauge just under half way, fan comes on just after starting,white water marks under bonett,and round rad pipes,lefthand side engine top,side....no water or white smoke from exhaust, no contaminatoin in oil dipstick,fillercap, or sludge in expansion tank,,,.......got it booked in friday toyota northampton, ,,,, not looking forward to that, oh 117000, on clock thx all

Hello Gareth - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Have you checked all of the cooling system, including the radiator for leaks?. Is the expansion tank cap seal ok? I had to change the rad. on my Avensis at about 120k. Simple job. Have you checked in the car matwells for damp/water ?

thx jaybird 1, someone did suggest tank cap, hope its that, will check carpets wen other half bk from work, heres hoping its one of the two you mention , if it is cap would that cause it to boil out of overflow , onto fan an spit water on to inside bonnet above tank area ?

Take it to a reputable garage Gareth and tell them you need a sniff test doing,or purchase a kit from eBay and do it your self...
