A New User Question-avensis 1.6

Hi everybody,

I am planning to buy a 2004 model 1.6i 110hp avensis . My previous car was a Ford focus. My questions are;

The car is 1300 kg weight. Is 110 hp enough to accelarate this car. Will it be too slow. (compared to my previous car)

Do you suggest me to buy this car? I have to choose this 1.6i due to tax regulations. I cannot afford 2.0 liters..

What about the quality, noise level and other issues?

Best regards

Leo

Personally, I would get the 1.8 or a diesel if you cannot afford the 2.0 as I think the 1.6 might struggle.

As regards quality, they are an improvement over the previous model although there have a been a few niggling faults that owners complain about but nothing serious.

My old Avensis is very quiet so I would expect the new one to be even better in this respect, if you want to try and reduce road noise a bit too then get a Saloon over a Hatchback as this always seems to help in my experience.

First of all I guess he cannot get a 1.8 Diesel as he lives in Turkey and there is no Diesel Toyota here...

leo:

I dont know if you have any idea about the acceleration of the Opel Vectra coz i will compare the Avensis with it.

Our car was a 98 1.6 Vectra before Avensis. It was 1215 kgs. and 101 hp. I modified that car with an air filter an took out the catalitic convertor... So it was like 107 HP after the modification and 1215 kgs...

I can say that even the Avensis is 1300 kgs. it has a better acceleration then the Vectra. The motor is enough for the car if you dont want to make street races.

about the quality and the noise...

It has a really high quality... It seems and feels like a luxury car and i guess you know that it has lot of equipment.

And it is the most silent car i have ever been inside. You just realize the noise of the motor at about 5000+ rpm...And that noise is also not so loud and the sound of the motor is nice...
