I AM EXPERICING A LOUD ALMOST LIKE A KNOCKING NOICE,IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE FRONT MANIFOLD ,IS THERE A PUMP OR SOMETHING IN THERE THAT COULD BE MAKING THIS NOICE ,I;M TO SCARED TO DRIVE IT,IS THERE A TROUBLESHOOTERS WEB SITE FOR THESE KIND OF PROBS.

Hi there I am a new member to this site .. I own a 94 SS-II celica .... don't know quite what could be causing that sound .. but I am a member of the celica club .. there is bound to be someone there who can help you out as they have a Gen4 section .. there web site is www.celica-club.co.uk ... you can give them a try and see if anyone else there knows!! A 1991 Celica is a generation five, :P

sorry I know that's a really anal fact but you wouldn't want to look in the wrong place :D

Prob a bit late to reply but i've just joined the site.

Had a very intermittent noise also sounded awful but after visual check it would go away sounded like the exhaust was thumping the bottom out of the car. Did all the usual jack it up stuff with eng running in gear etc suspecting CV joints etc but noise wouldn't stay. Eventually went to garage had all drive shafts inspected and even taken apart. Eventually sent one off to Driveshaft UK 0880 no. Yellow pages. They were excellent back next day no probs or noise since, mine: a 94/95 Celica 2L import
