2013 1.4 D4D -Possible To Fit Cruise Control?

Hi everyone, I've just had a test drive in a 2013 Auris and think it's the car for me. However, I simply must have cruise control -I can do really long journeys and find this essential.

Obviously not fitted as standard and not listed as an option either.

I've seen the thread on earlier cars, but they exclude the 1.4.

So forum knowledge, is they a way to fit it?

Also, while I'm looking to buy one, anything I should look for? Is the 1.4 a camchain or cambelt? Is home servicing possible?

Cheers

Fran

The diesel is chain driven.

If the car you are thinking of purchasing has the remainder of the Toyota new car warranty, home servicing will void the warranty.

Block Exemption allows independent garages to service cars within the new car warranty period, but the manufacturer's servicing schedules must be followed, you will need to keep detailed evidence of what parts and work has been done during the service (the simplest thing would be to use manufacturer parts), and should there be a case where you apply for a goodwill contribution from the manufacturer for an out-of-warranty repair, this goodwill will probably not be forthcoming. See the following extract from the Honest John website: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/warranty-servicing/

This applies to most manufacturers.

If the car has an extended warranty, Block Exemption doesn't apply, and you will need to comply with the warranty's requirements for servicing (ie the warranty may stipulate that the manufacturers dealer network is used for servicing).

Cruise is not available from Toyota on 1.4 d4d Auris as neither the wiring harness nor ECU programme is present, there may however be aftermarket kits available. As Frosty has mentioned "self servicing" is not accepted and will invalidate your warranty. Servicing must be completed by a VAT registered garage following Toyota's schedules.
