Has anyone done any brake upgrades even just pads or discs and found a worthy difference in the change

Sent from my HTC One SV using Toyota OC mobile app

Nitrac drilled and grooved front and rear with Black Diamond pads on both front and rear.

Way less brake dust than OEM and better bite than OEM with Black Diamond pads. Reason I went with drilled and grooved is for aesthetic reasons and the drilled and grooved part of the disc does help with braking during heavy rain.

I would just upgrade the pads with solid disc since it's the pads that counts the most when it comes to braking and with solid disc, you'd have more brake surface for the pads to grip on.

Got MTEC dimpled and grooved discs with black diamond pads. Haven't noticed any difference performance wise but nearly no brake dust now :)

It's got to be worth it just for that :)

mtec gold drilled and grooved, mintex pads, definetly better than standard and no brake dust.

The gold is just a coating they put on your discs apparently ... Doesn't do anything besides aesthetics apparently

Correct it leaves the colour in the grooves my wheels are gold hence.....

I've got a set of Mtec grooved discs & Mintex pads just waiting to go on at the next service. Used them before on my Nissan & with a set of HEL braided hoses, the difference was like night & day ! More feel, more stopping power & very little dust :)

Minted pads are better than the black diomand ones as they dusted even worse after a bit

I changed both pads and discs to Pagid... Very good bite even when cold and a good price too... Bought front and backs for £179..

Didnt venture into the grooved or drilled discs as I don't have a heavy right foot...

Neither do I, but it's nice to have the reassurance of good stoppers when you need them.

I thoroughly agree sir, and I have had to stand on the brakes a few times.... Missed some idiots by this much...... No damage to car, just my underpants.......

No I completely agree with that ... Been there got the stains to prove it ... It's a good topic as you get people's opinions ...

Also braided lines then what do we think I'm all for them I have them on my old escort and it is an improvement

Yep like them... Stainless steel ones look good on a car and bike..... And they're functional too..

Ye but on the modern car with power assisted stuff I don't know whether it would be worth it

True and unlike a bike. Most of the time you never see the brake hoses, unless the car is on full lock... And with lowered suspension the wheel into the arch hides everything.... But like a lot of mods on cars, it's always a personal thing.....

I did not notice any difference after fitting a set on mine.

So am about to take the plunge into some mtec discs and not 100% on which pad to go for I have been eyeballing the new black diamond ones and EBC green stuff pads ... As my pads have done a monumental amount of mileage now and am thinkin I would like some better pads than the old OE or the black diamond OE replacement ones as the dusting is terrible and very low now will need doing very very soon

Black diamond do not generate dust almost at all, at least the pads that I have. I can recommend them for sure!

On my Avensis T180 2.2L estate I had MTEC drilled and groved (Black addition) with Mintex pads. On our Grand Voyager 2.8L XS VM Motori marine diesel lump we have MTEC drilled ( Black addition ) with Mintex pads. On my Celica GT4 205 import I have EBC Turbo Grove drilled and dimpled with Yellow stuff pads. All very good and would recommend all of them.

I think yellow stuff is a bit hard-core for mainly motorway and the odd fast road use

It is. But that was on the car when I bought it. I would probably go for Red stuff for normal road use. But saying that! The Yellow works okay for me! Once you get the heat built up in them ;)
