Just wondering what you chaps opinion is on putting the Prius through a car wash of some descripion. Nice £5 wheel scrub and super polish etc etc!?

btw, had car a week, still on same tank (first tank) 2 bars left on fuel and 430 miles. wondering how much I'd get out of a whole tank. My MPG is 53.1 thus far. Getting to know the Prius, sort initial settling in is now over and am enjoying the drive.

best regards

DON'T DO IT !

I would never use a car wash on my car, ever.

OK, they get the dirt off, but dull the paintwork and use cheap car shampoo. It'll look clean, but there are much better ways to look after your car...(especially a new one). My Sera is 13 yrs old and I always hand wash it. It's the best way by far.

Check out the thread currently in the General Section about washing cars. There's a link to the Lexus Carcare site. Brilliant information/how to guides on there about how to clean the car properly and keep it showcar clean.

It's your new car. Your pride and joy. DON'T put it through a carwash......please

I have just posted a couple of threads on detailing the professional way (I worked with our US partners on setting up LexusCarCare.com ;) ).

Some links for you

And because everyone raves about Meguiars (although I personally feel there are better products), I also posted a load of links directly to the Megiuars products.

The prices are great - as you can see, you can get 3 Meguiars NXT Generation products for ~£16 - the NXT Generation wax ALONE is £15 in the UK B)

How to buy meguiars products cheaply

Most car wash recycle the water as well - not nice. And they can swirl scratch !

Great for company cars, muddy vans, hire cars and so on - but you'd never get my pride and joy in one !
