Left-Right Play In Brake Pedal (T27 Cvt)

So I've had my new T4 CVT for a few weeks now and am so far really happy with it. However, over the last few days I've noticed what feels like some side-to-side (left/right) play in the brake pedal (approx 10-15mm play). It may be something new that's developed, I may only be noticing it now, or it may be down to the new shoes I'm wearing!

Can someone with a T27 (perhaps specifically a CVT) please give their brake pedal a wobble with their hand, and let me know if it's normal for there be some side-to-side play?

Checked mine this mornings nod the play is about 3mm which seems acceptable to me.

10-15mm is a hell of a lot of free play! Is that at the 'free' end of the pedal or does it move that much at the bush (connected) end?

That's at the free end (i.e. the bottom left corner). I checked again this evening and t's more like 10mm to be honest.

Do you think it's worth dropping in on a Toyota garage to see if one of their service guys can take a minute to take a look (at the free play)? Or is this the type of thing I need appointment for?

Actually, 10mm might be within spec, I don't know to be honest. I thought it sounded like a lot but I just check my 2013 Verso and it also has about 8mm sideways movement at the end of the pedal, not noticeable at all when driving.

It doesn't seem uncommon, looking around on the internet. If you're concerned, it might not be a bad idea to pop in to a dealer and ask for their opinion...if there's no problem, it'll set your mind at rest at least :)

Ok, so I took took my car into Toyota yesterday. The service technician said he'd compared it with two other Avensi in the workshop, and it was nothing out of the ordinary.

He also said he'd checked the nuts etc and nothing was loose or anything. Panic over I guess!!!

Thanks for the input :)

That's good to hear :) Always worth checking if you're in any doubt.
