Rav 4 Clutch Won't Dissengage

I have a 96 rav 4 and have had an intermediate problem with the clutch not disengaging I've had the master cylinder and slave replaced each time it works fine for a couple days then I can't shift into gear without shutting the car off putting into gear and starting in gear. Even with the clutch pressed down it moves forward. Any ideas one shop told me to replace the clutch but it never slips and I don't want to pay $1800.00 to get a new clutch if it might not be the problem

Presumably when you've changed master and slave cylinders, you've checked pedal height and free movement - the parameters are given in the tech section. Excessive free movement is often caused by air in the system. Assuming the hydraulics are OK - clutch drag is often caused by the friction plate not sliding properly on the gearbox input shaft splines. This can be due to a worn friction plate hub, corrosion or an oil leak (oil mixes with clutch dust). Clutch drag will cause gearbox damage.

Usually this is a pretty simple system,

if the disc looked good and the throwout bearing is mounted to the lever correctly the only other things that would keep this from operating are the pressure plate(not likely) or the disc center is bent keeping it engaged.

At this point I would pull the gearbox as you know the problem is inside and replace the TO, Pressure plate and disc.
