Software Issue

Hi all

I've had problems with bluetooth and mp3 music for a few months. Tried everything and took it back under warranty. Today they told me it's a software issue and even when fixed no telling if it will happen again.

I spoke to them about swapping car but because I got a great deal before they cy come anywhere close to matching it. The best deal they have is

2013 new model yaris for £50 more a month than I pay now. No stop/start. No climate control. No Satnav. Higher tax bracket.

I feel. Bit hard done by that because it's not my problem I have to pay more for it. But the new car has free mot for life and extended warranty.

What do people think

Was this from a Toyota dealer?

Yes main Toyota. They just said it's a software issue and needs new USB connecter but had this fine twice before in the last 12 months

I think there have been compatibility issues between the Touch & Go and the Apple operating systems. How are you playing the mp3's through the system?

Incidentally the stop/start system was dropped from the third generation Yaris - Toyota cited cost as the reason, which presumably is why the 2013 Yaris has a higher tax rating. The 2013 car would still have at least 3 years of the five year new car warranty remaining - provided the car had been serviced at the recommended intervals.

Stop start is useless. I have it and 60% of the time it doesent even work! Its just a fancy function, would of been better if it worked all the time. Also fuel wise its literallly the same, I use my Auris in town only and even in traffic I dont see a major or any difference in fuel consumption.

Conversely, I've had two Auris with stop/start from new - 2009 and 2012 models. Stop/start works satisfactorily for me and provides 5-6mpg more than the previous Corolla, whether around the city (Birmingham) or on a run. Fuel consumption up to 48mpg at motorway speeds (brim to brim figures), two passengers and loaded with luggage. Yes the system has limitations - accept those and it is fine.

Changing the whole car because of bluetooth seems to be extreme, especially as bluetooth seems to be a compatibility nightmare and there's no guarantee what you get next will be much better.

I'd look at maybe getting a different head unit (realising that may be tricky with the dash) or using another system to get your mp3s into the car audio system - an aux connection, possibly added, for example. If you have a decent car audio centre nearby it might be worth a visit to see what they can suggest. (£50 a month would quickly pay for a lot of audio equipment :) )

Hello. I'm not changing the car due to bluetooth problems. But what made me question it was a culmination of problems ever since I've had it. I know it's under warranty but I'm getting so fed up of taking it in for a fault.

I've been there 6 times this year and had to have 4 courtesy cars costing £12 a day to get to work (plus 2 days off). It's back in next Friday - courtesy car needed again. It's having a new head unit, new USB thing and a new air com unit this time. I've had the head unit and USB port changes once already November last year.

I'm nt getting the new car. I've got what I've got but if anything else goes wrong I will be having a serious word with Toyota. 😄😄

It is not useless, it is not supposed to work 100% of the time. The very nature of it means there are circumstances where it would not be right to stop / start such as heavy load on the Battery, foot on the clutch pedal etc etc. It works and helps give better MPG, but it is expensive for the manufacturer to fit and not to everyones taste

I like it and think it has made a different to my mpg.

Well just to let you know I have traded my car in at a Toyota dealership today because I've just heard from the original it's needs another 2 things fixing. That's 8 problems since January.

I'm thinking long term and once the warranty has run out I'll be paying out the nose for problems.

I've stuck with the yaris t spirit and have fingers crossed this one has no problems.

I see. Fair enough.

I hope this one is better - good luck with it anyway.. Sounds like the other one was a bit of a lemon.
