Avensis Abs, Vsc &trac Off Lights Sometimes On

Hi,

I own a 2008 Avensis 2.2 D4D TR Estate, recently the ABS, VSC & TRAC OFF lights sometimes illuminate all at the same time. It first happened about 2 weeks ago and then the car was fine (ie lights did not illuminate) and then they came on. Next day they were off, following day they were on, then they were off fir 10 days or so. Anyhow, point I'm trying to make is that the fault appears to be intermittent.

Are there any clever people here who might have any advice? Could this be a Yaw sensor problem and if so where is it located?

Is there a 'jumper wire' method to get the fault codes didplayed on the dash to help with diagnosing this problem?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.... Hope I have posted this in the correct forum.

Hi Kev. This before in the forum and it relates to the EGR being blocked. Yaw sensor has also been mentioned.

The following links is to a post similar to yours - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/116407-trcvscengine-light-on-t180/

Do a search in the forum using ABS VSC and TRC.

The other thing is to get an OBD code reader to diagnose any faults.

Hi Konrad,

Thanks for posting a reply to my question.... I think I have more of an idea what the problem is. It appears to be brake light related, which is mentioned in one of the posts you said to look at. Anyhow, I noticed that my right hand brake light was not working although when I checked the bulb it appeared to be fine. Maybe it was a dodgy connection between the bulb and bulb holder as after removing the bulb and putting it back in it worked fine. What I did notice though is that if the right hand bulb was in the holder, but not working, and I then removed the left hand brake bulb the TRAC OFF, ABS and VSC lights came on straight away. Maybe if there was intermittent dodgy connections to both bulbs then at times it could give the fault that I had.

Not 100% convinced that this has cured it, only time will prove that one, as both bulbs were fine and all connections looked ok but none the less I cleaned them and will have so see how things go from here.

Thanks again,

Kev
