Auris Hsd - Winter Wheels Instead Of 17"

Bought a new Auris HSD on 17" alloy rims. Like the car so far very much, drives like a dream :)

I'm looking for a set of winter wheels, preferably smaller and steel ones. According to technical data, each Auris that comes on 17" has bigger front brake discs than basic 15" version (296mm vs 273mm). So my guess is that 15" wheels are out of equation. Will 16" steel wheels from ordinary Auris (non-HSD) fit?

Can you please try to avoid any theoretical speculations, disscussions about homologation and insurance issues ;)

I hope that some Auris owners already used alternative set of wheels for a winter season and will share their experience.

15" may fit, depends on the internal diameter - it's not actually 15".

I had the same idea last year, got a set of 15" cheap, but unfortunately they had a lip on the inside that fouled the caliper.

A set of 16" would have fit, but cost more to buy, so the total cost with tyres didn't make it cost effective and I didn't bother.

I have a set of winter tyres on 17" alloy wheels for sale in the sales section, I got them for my 62 plate Auris Excel Hybrid, I didn't like the Hybrid so changed to a diesel my diesel as the diesel came with 16' wheels

I got these wheels after consulting an expert alloy supplier who checked they would fit the hybrid ok I went to the workshop to have winter tyres transferred to them & they did no issues and they were brilliant in the snow & wet, I had driven on snow the day before I bought the tyres and the difference was so reassuring.
