I have a 56k modem installed and the highest I have ever connected at with it has been 48k :( But more often than none, I connect at between 32000 and 36333

Am looking into a .5Meg BB connection - Don't know if we can afford (or justify the extra expense) of a 1Meg  Would love 2Meg tho

i'm on 64k ISDN, and hate it. 56K seems faster these days, and on top of that it's £40 per month plus £14 for ISP... so £54 a month for a 7kb/s download... bargain. :(

Really... well, thanks for that massive insight there vmail - god knows why I hadn't thought of that before!!!

You know, if you'd have been around 4 years ago when I first got ISDN - and told me that i'd have been better off with broadband for the 3years I spent playing counter-strike ....you'd have saved me alot of time and money.

Unfortunately I live in an area where the exchange is still not updated to ADSL capacity - ISDN is the most powerful 'broadband' I can get here, unless you want to spend stupid amounts on Satelite broadband - which is good for downloading.. but the latency is stupid, rendering it useless for gaming.

Don't worry though, i'm moving into town next month - i'll get 2mb broadband then, and it'll still be cheaper than this extortionate ISDN service from BT.

*edit: ooops, Sam beat me to it*

Oh, and for you 2Meg guys.. Im waiting until they offer SDSL in residencial areas...

No contention.. guaranteed bandwidth, and have you seen the pipes you can get :D
