Corolla 2E Engine Carb Question

Hi,

I have some questions regarding my corolla 93 model (2E engine) 1300cc 12Valve using Aisan carburetor. I am not sure if the connection of the vacuum advance and !Removed! hoses are correct (see attached pics).

Problem with my car are:

1. hard/sticky gas pedal (accelerator cable seems ok and not tight)

2. slow acceleration

3. fuel consumption is quite high at 6+km per liter on city driving with AC on

- clean the carb using carb cleaner only since I can't afford to send the car for further carb servicing since I am using it daily for work. also tried to use fuel system cleaner.

4. fuel gauge (pin) reading drops when in idle

- tried to adjust the idle mixture screw and did some improvement, rough idle and vibration were also minimized.

5. engine dies (either drive or reverse) when the wheels are on full turn

I bought the car as 2nd hand and before I used it I sent it for some repairs like changed AC compressor bearing, changed oil, changed timing belt, repaired oil leak at timing belt area, replaced spark plugs (4 pcs).

My primary concern is the fuel consumption at the moment. I am suspecting that the vacuum hoses for the advance and !Removed! are wrong and also on the pic, there are 2 vacuum ports just on top of the idle mixture screw that 1 is plugged and the other is left unplugged. I tried to plugged the unplugged vacuum port and noticed that my fuel consumption became higher.

Please advice...

Thanks, Edi

Hi, this corolla is known for slow acceleration within 80-90 up to 120 kmh, after reaching 120kmh it has no problems going further 🙂 cheers
