Considering A 2012 1.4 D4D

Hi all,

I'm considering a Yaris after years of French car ownership...wondered if you could help.

I will be needing cruise control (can have this fitted for £425 anyone know if better/cheaper options) and a drivers arm rest. Again, anyone know something about that?

Can the Yaris tow? Only looking at moving a motorbike.

Anyone home service? How complex

Is the 1.4 diesel a cambelt or camchain?

Any pointers I should look out for? The car I'm considering has 30K on it.

The 1.4D4D is a chain cam, very nice engine, not a lot to go wrong with it. Most important thing is giving it regular oil changes and the chain will last the life of the engine. (Good thing too because it's a massive PITA to change it!)

Should be okay to tow a small bike trailer, the D4D has more grunt than any of the other engines in the range, but check the weight rating just in case. I know the un-braked load rating is a lot lower than the braked load.

Dunno about the other stuff; Am a little jealous as I really wish I could retrofit cruise control into my Mk1! (Dad got a Verso recently and I have become obsessed with the cruise control )

I love cruise control. Had it in my BMW320d and Vauxhall Vectra 1.9cdti estate, but sadly not in my 1.4 D4D yaris, but I am not paying £400+ after fit. Do mis it though, even if just for sticking it at 30 in a 30 area - cant go wrong.

I agree, the engine should still pull well with a small trailer - I find its an amazing "little" engine.

Great, thanks for the info.

Whats the highest mileage anyone has reached with a derv Yaris?

It's a Yaris or a Corsa, and I like the prospect of a high miles Toyota a whole lot more than a Vauxhall.

My Its 9 year oldYaris d4D is a low miler with only 105k miles apart from service items and tyres only had to change brake discs at 95K. We are currently looking for a 2012-2013 Yaris D4D to replace my sons 2012 Suzuki Swift diesel as along the service history is up to date the Toyotota warranty is excellent . I also have a 1.4 D4D Auris which again apart from a water leak has been brill.
