I was wondering how much oil would I need to put into the car after I have given it a full service. This is to aid me buy the right amount come service time.

Thanks

Also would the 10W40 grade oil be right for this the car has 143k on the clock

Hi Shahid,

The oil capacity for 1.8 is 3.7 litres with the filter changed, 3.5 without. the 2 litre is 3.9 Iitres with filter or 3.7 without. I usually check the dipstick when filling.

10W-40 grade is fine, that is what I use in Castrol Magnatec. 10W-30 to 20W-50 are mentioned in the handbook with 5W-30 for very cold temperatures.

Semi synthetic is fine.

Check for are the cambelt, do you have history or a label stuck in the car. This engine is kind to the cambelt and if it does break, just fit another one.

Make sure the other belts are in good condition.

Read my posts and any other posts related to mk1 Avensis. You don't state what engine you have, but the 1.8(7A-FE) is the most common.

Enjoy your Avensis.

Konrad
