A familiar warning on my 2011 d4d 2.0 started coming on at 96000 miles. Car had to be remapped at 50000 for being really smoky & had been fine till now. Dealer has changed egr valve & that didn't cure it. On Toyotas recommendation they did a modified rocker cover & pipes but it lasted a day. In & out of limp mode, clearing itself then back on. Getting near end of warranty any ideas please?

I would discuss this with the service manager - as it sounds like a continuance of a fault that was identified whilst the car was in warranty, yet hasn't been satisfactorily resolved.

I hoping for that from them but it's dragging on a bit with no end in site.

Thanks.

Did they clean the manifold out as well as changing the EGR valve if not then that could be the cause.

If you don't get satisfaction from the dealer speak to or write to Toyota GB and then the fault will be logged with them in case of further disputes.

Pete.

Reporting it IN warranty and not resolving it IN warranty is a recipe for disaster. You do not have a 5 year and 1 day warranty, it needs to be sorted BEFORE the warranty expires. Go in and explain this to the service manager, be firm but polite, that you will not be fobbed off until after the warranty expires. It is very difficult to sort out once the warranty is over

They've had two goes at it & still has the same fault, it's the millage that's nearly at 100000 buts it's only 3 years old. Same thing applies.

Thanks.

Appreciate that, but still needs sorting before expiry on time OR miles. You must take this up with the Servie Manager or Dealer Principle to get it resolved BEFORE warranty expires

Thanks, time is of the essence as they say.

Just to conclude, big thanks to all replys. After changing the egr valve, egr cooler & an upgraded rocker cover the problem still there. They cleaned out the manifold (t-spiritpete) & 3000 miles later still ok. Dealer did fix it & my car has lots of unnecessary new parts & it was done over the warranty but seemed a lot of work for a school boy error.
