I can't really post full details as I don't think a post has ever been that long  BUT here's the short version.

For the last 5 months I have been averaging 70 - 80 hour weeks. Until a month ago I was put into a different department and put on nightshift without any notice or checking if I could do it.(well 6 hours or so) and was told it was until further notice. Since then (and at night) I have been doing 55 - 60 hour weeks based on four nights (and some of most days too) a week. On Saturday I got a text from my manager saying we have to start doing an additional night.

We were all "forced" to sign a waiver to the maximum working week and as a result the company can make us do these stupid hours with no overtime paid whatsoever!!! :ffs:

Legally you can opt-out of this waiver, but when a colleague did, he was sacked. Tribunal request will be issued to the company next week. Also legally one is not allowed to work for more than 8 hours with an 11 hour rest inbetween shifts when doing night work.

I have just finished a 15 hour shift :ffs:

If you request it, the company must send you for a medical.

I will be seeking legal advice soon too as I want to withdraw the waiver I have signed, but can't afford to get sacked for it regardless of tribunal hearings et al.

Can't say I enjoy Garrick doing night shifts (although I get to go online during the evening, that is the only perk).

Night shift turns people into zombies.

Yeah I can't sleep in weather like this :(

Between waking up at 7am last monday and getting to bed at 6am on Friday, I couldn't have had more than 9 hours sleep

Zombie mode in force as I type :P
