hello all !!

can any one direct me to replacement bushes for rear trailing arm and front/rear wishbones, i have found some polyurethane ones but am concerned about the roads around here and wot these bushes are for, are they for road use, with normal shocks etc?

toyota have told me that bushes are not replaceble, fensports say different, but fensports will only supply the poly..... ones

does any one have any tips on body restoration?

my sunroof is the only bit, except the wings, but these i will replace eventually, as they have no rust showing(filled by last owner - not pro job though)

thanks

a guy in the motor industry once told me those poly bushes would shake my car to death.and end up with more rattles than can be believed .owning a toyota is a wallet ride at times , but worth it in the end .i would locate a write off and get parts from it , or go to dealers and beg for trade discount lol.

Poly bushes are certainly less compliant than OEM bushes but shouldn't give you any real problems with rattles. There were some "CHEAP" ones about some years ago that were just too hard but if you go for a recognised brand like Powerflex you should have no problems. They will take a lot of the play out of the suspension and give you much better handling, the only downside should be that you may notice a little more noise transmitted from the tyres/road.

In most cases you will find that Toyota wont sell you a bush, you need to buy the complete suspension part (£££££).

cheers kelvyn,

i know wot your sayin with toyota, i asked em about the bushes and they said"have to buy the whole section as bushes are encapsulated", and they cost a tidy £90 each + vat, theres 3 sections!!

think i am gonna try fensports and the powerflex bushes, cheers for your advice maleborn, but if they are really as bad as suggested then surely they wouldnt sell any......?

cheers again, its quite frustrating wanting the old car to look like new, and the cost of gettin it that way, cos as soon as i am financially better off i will be looking at the next gen, but i cant wait so have to sort this one out.....!

Last year we needed to replace the rear radius arm bushes on my sons gen5 Celica, Toyota quoted us £80 each +VAT for complete arms (there are 4). Unfortunately there was no kit available for his car so I contacted POWERFLEX myself they said that they were planning to produce a kit for that car starting early 2004. Dont know if they have done it yet, the car has been sold now anyway. In the end we took a chance and got a second hand set through 247 spares. We were lucky I guess they did the job a treat and took away the horrible clonking noise the car was suffering from so we did it for £90 all in.

Does this mean you'ed have to burn the old one out and it would be REALLY hard to get the new one in?

Has anyone ever replaced them?

you will almost certainly need burning gear and a hydraulic press to change them.

I mean keeping the section and changing the bush only! Surely theirs motor factors out there that supply bushes only?

try FENSPORT they do SUPERFLEX bushes , which are more forgiving than powerflex i believe , yes you keep the unit and burn out the old bushes and use a hydraulic press to replace with polyurethane ones. i had the same trouble with ford no bushes for an escort , but bushes for a fiesta ,you could get , thing was the bushes used in the escort arms were the same fiesta bushes you could buy separately. good old ford lol.
