Changing Car Radio In Yaris 1999

Hey guys

I just bought my first Toyota Yaris from 1999. My question here is, if it's possible to change the car radio to a better one with aux and such, and if so, could I get the new radio to coorporate with the display screen that says which radio channel I'm on and so?

Best regards, Gugs

It is possible, but you will lose the ability to use the steering controls and there is (AFAIK) no way for it to use the main LCD display. May be a bit awkward as the new headunit would go where the coin-letterbox-slot thingy which is quite near the gear stick.

The xcarlink/gromaudio boxes work with the existing system by pretending to be CD multichangers (My Yaris thinks I have 14 CDs ) and work pretty well with all the existing systems including the RDS and steering wheel controls (Although they can't display track names sadly), and are a doddle to install.

If you don't mind hanging upside-down in the passenger footwell, it is even possible to install one without removing the head unit!

However, they are very expensive compared to a lot of better-featured headunits and don't appear to have dropped in price since I bought my first one (Which was something like 6 years ago!)
